MAZEL

Mazel is a prayer shawl holder made from beech and brass tube which was designed to reflect the aesthetic and materials used in the recently rebuilt synagogue it was commissioned for.  The two triangles that form the flat parts create a Star of David when viewed from above, a reference to the setting and final use of the object.  This draws attention to the prayer shawls and gives a space for these ritual objects to speak of their own importance to Jewish ceremonies.
